SWELLENDAM ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
QUAD BIKING
Located near Barrydale, over the mountains in the semi-desert Klein Karoo region, enjoy fun and energetic quad bike rides up into the hills. Great views and sensation of speed adds to the fun as you choose various trails depending on your levels of energy and expertise. Suitable for all ages, the machines only take a few minutes to learn, and are easy to ride.
Helmets are provided, but we also recommend jeans and strong shoes, plus sunscreen to protect your skin from the powerful sun, and shades to protect your eyes from dust and small stones.
This option turns the Klein-Karoo Chill-Out into a full day tour: you can get hot & dusty and work up a good thirst on the bikes then quench it with an ice cold drink at the Karoo saloon before a relaxing dip at the Warmwaterberg Spa’s open-air swimming pool. To top it off, enjoy a late afternoon sun-downer at the world-famous Ronnie’s Sex Shop (actually a Pub, don’t worry!)
Cost of trip, including 3-hour guided quad-bike ride : R795 per person
SUNSET CRUISE ON THE BUFFELSJAGS DAM
On a perfect hot summer afternoon this is THE spot to be. Buffeljags Dam is a large reservoir under the peaceful Langeberg mountains where you can just relax and enjoy the view, or take part in various exciting adventure activities. Prime amongst these is a nerve-jangling zip wire - a fast and exhilarating 200 meter slide down a 40 meter high cable into the dam - not for the faint hearted. After that adrenalin rush you can enjoy the afternoon cruising on a double-deck pontoon boat, sunbathing, swimming, fishing, canoeing to a beautiful hidden waterfall in a remote canyon, and feast on an on-board barbecue and drinks.
Soon to come, we hope to add zorbing / sphereing to the mix of brilliant fun activities at the Dam. Watch this space for details
